So the poll glitch gave me the opening I needed: I went down today and got a bagel at both Backyard and Mt. Bagel (and was happy to find no lines at either). Both of these are really solid bagels, but my votes goes to Backyard Bagel for a slightly better interior texture and, for reasons I can’t quite explain, slightly better scallion cream cheese. (I’ll say, the cream cheese had nothing to do with my vote, just saying).
FYI I had a little mixup with the Mt. Bagel/Backyard Bagel poll. It was initially only set to a day. So I've reopened it, but the numbers reset. I've gone ahead and recorded the previous poll numbers and will add them up when the polls ends Tuesday evening.
What I've recently discovered is that for as good as Hey Bagels are when you rip and dip them fresh out of the oven in the shop, they don't freeze and reconstitute as well as Backyard Bagel. There is still a density problem going on once you get Hey Bagel's bagels home. Backyard Bagel on the other hand reconstitutes well and has an airy fluffiness even after defrosting that gives them an edge. Go BYB!!!

I feel like I'm hearing from more and more people about Backyard upping their game. 🤔🤔🤔
I was really impressed

Finally tried a Backyard Bagel and they get my vote for the big win hands down!

Oh no, you’ve given Sean an idea for a new category: best frozen and then reheated bagel!
