I'll skip the bagels here for sure, but I have to ask, even though it might not be in your realm: how were the cannoli? I assume those are made locally, and not flown in from NY.
I found Bagel Oasis >20 years ago, and as you have confirmed, they are indeed the best bagels in town. Always have been.
Not a fan of any bagel that needs to be toasted, but I appreciate the effort. I believe the bagels they overnight are or were "New Yorker Bagels" - https://www.newyorkerbagels.com
I found another "place" for you to check out, although it's on a pop-up basis. It's Adam's Bakery out of West Seattle, which is a bagel desert aside from this. Haven't tried them, and they're expensive, but they look great in the photos. All are sourdough based. See if these are up to snuff sometime if you can. In the meantime, Bagel Oasis it is. Thank you for the reviews Sean, they've been spot on. However I think I'd put Kelly's bagels dead last.
My family has been an advocate of bagel oasis for about 20 years, beginning with when they sold bagels out of Roxy's deli in Fremont. The only bagel that's come close IMO is mt. bagel, If you were lucky enough to place an order before they ran out.
In case you haven't heard, mt. bagel is moving back to Seattle! Hopefully it'll be a full service operation serving bagels and cream cheese 7 days a week like Bagel Oasis.
Btw - I'm not sure if it was just the midtown location, but my last trip to ess-a-bagel was pretty underwhelming.
I did NOT know about the Mt Bagel news and you just made my week. I just looked into it and that is a gamechanger. Very excited for their return and to see how they'll shake up the rankings.
I have heard that about Ess-a-bagel. Have you tried Kossar's?

I didn't try the cannoli! I was too focused on the task at hand, but I know that those are defintely made locally.
Glad to be part of Bagel Oasis Gang...

Thanks Stewart, I will check them out. Looks like they're out of stock at the moment but I'll keep on it. Appreciate it!

I think that would be a fair rating, I get it.

No, I haven't been to Kossar's but I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in NY.
